Development of High-flame Retardance LSZH-Compliant Small Size Low-Friction Indoor Cables

摘要

We have developed the new optical indoor cables which have excellent flame retardancy, LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) characteristics and low friction characteristic for MDUs (Multi Dwelling Units). The new optical indoor cables can be easily installed in conduits crowded with existing cables by pushing without using any rod, as well as the conventional small size low friction indoor cable. Formerly, it was very difficult to satisfy both of the requirements of vertical flame tests and LSZH characteristics, maintaining a small size and low friction. In order to achieve the high flame retardancy, LSZH characteristics and the low coefficient of friction, we have developed new resin for the jacket of the new optical indoor cable. In addition, we have also developed the non-metallic type optical indoor cable. Cable stiffness is an important factor for pushing installation into a conduit. Therefore, steel strength member was used for conventional low friction indoor cable. The newly developed non-metallic optical indoor cable has been optimized the stiffness by using the new FRP strength member. It has equivalent installation characteristic compared to conventional low friction indoor cable which has metallic strength member.
