Quareo Plug Identification and Detection Technology

The ability to identify and detect the presence of a cable plug inserted into a mating connector and to maintain accurate cable connectivity records are fundamental requirements of any intelligent connectivity management system. This paper details the methods used in Quareo systems for the detection and identification of an inserted copper or fiber cable assembly. In the Quareo connectivity management system this is accomplished by using an embedded electrically erasable programmable read only memory (EEPROM) in the plug on each end of the cable assembly.
