Opportunities and Challenges Facing the Conservation of the Archaeological Sites and Ruins in China

The conservation of the cultural heritage received support and special attention paid by the Chinese government and state leaders.In 2005,State Council of the People's Republic of China promulgated the Notice of Promoting the Conservation of the Cultural Heritage,which clarifies further the guidelines,overall objectives and specific measures to the conservation work of cultural heritages,and also submits a scientific plan for the overall objective of the cultural heritage conservation in the next 10 years.A leadership team for the conservation of cultural heritage sites organized by the departments concerned under the State Council decided to establish the China Cultural Heritage Day beginning in 2006.The cultural heritage conservation stepped into a rapid development stage.The central government appropriated 1.3 billion Yuan in 2007 as the special funds for the heritage site conservation.
