This paper describes the use of tele-robotic cranes in anrninternational collaborative educational program. The programrngoal was to have a visiting foreign professor bring alternativernteaching methods and experiences to engineeringrngraduate students at the Escuela T′ecnica Superior de IngenierosrnIndustriales in Madrid, Spain. In order to fully conveyrnthe alternative curriculum, the visiting faculty memberrnneeded to utilize his usual laboratory equipment, whichrnconsisted of various types of cranes. Because the cranesrncan be remotely operated from anywhere in the world viarnthe Internet, they were well-suited for this international educationalrncollaboration. The challenges of such a program,rnthe use of the cranes, and results from student assignmentsrnare discussed.
