Evaluation of a simple and rapid method for the analysis of aflatoxins in commercial foods

Aflatoxins (AF) remain as a serious contaminant in foods, particularly in peanuts, corn and their products in tropical countries. Various analytical methods have been validated for Af, which modified the AOAC-CB method for column cleanup. Recently, the use of solid phase extraction (SPE) multifunctional column with CH_3CN as an extracting solvent has been validated for AF-spike samples. We have evaluated the performance of this column for application to commercial peanut and corn products.
