In the present paper, the wave absorbing performance of the fullyrnsubmerged horizontal porous plates has been investigated numericallyrnand experimentally. The submerged porous system is composed ofrnmulti-layered horizontal porous plates that are clamped at the verticalrnseawall, which are slightly inclined and placed in parallel with spacingrnin vertical direction. The hydrodynamic interaction of incident wavesrnwith the rigid porous multi-layered plates was formulated in the contextrnof linear wave-body interaction theory and Darcy’s law. The accuracyrnand convergence of the developed numerical codes were cross-checkedrnbased on the energy-conservation formula for a limiting case, and therncomparison with the experiment in a two-dimensional wave tank. It isrnfound that triple horizontal porous plates with slight inclination can, ifrnit is properly tuned for wave energy dissipating against the standingrnwaves in front of the vertical wall, have high performances in reducingrnthe reflected wave amplitudes against the incident waves over a widernrange of wave frequency.
