This paper summarises the main results derived fromrna study developed under the ESA funded PolSAR-Aprnproject, aimed to demonstrate the contribution of SARrnpolarimetry in diverse Earth observation products. Thernspecific application treated here is the retrieval of phenologyrnof agricultural crops by exploiting C-band polarimetricrnimages. Using a set of 20 images acquired byrnRadarsat-2 during the AgriSAR2009 campaign, we showrnthe sensitivity of polarimetry for some crop types (mainlyrncereals) and present a number of retrieval results withrnsimple algorithms that exhibit excellent performance forrnsome crops, e.g. barley and wheat.
