Wire users need a product which meets their requirements. If wire is manufactured which does not meet specification, it might be shipped, so the user perceives a risk. Reduction of this risk is the basis of the current interest in capability indexes such as Cp and Cpk.rnSome purchasers have decided to add new requirements about the seller's manufacturing process to the usual wire specifications . They want the seller "prove" that their process always produces wire which meets specifications. Out of their desire to reduce the risk that they receive out of specification material, they are contractually assuring that the supplier never even manufactures nonconforming product. Therefore, it cannot be shipped.
