Experience With the Development Use of An Expert System for the Evaluation of Transformer Dissolved Gas Data

Several years ago, a vision was conceived to computerize the method, the guidelines, and the decision logic then being used by a human evaluator to diagnose dissolved gases in transformer oil samples. Work was begun as an individual's personal endeavor; and, it culminated in bringing that vision to fruition approximately a year ago. Technology limitations presented the largest barriers to overcome. But, through a partnership with an individual in a Dow computer group, they have been conquered.
