Properties of hollow-core photonic bandgap fibers (HC-PBGFs) with different core rings were investigated by using a full-vector finite element method (FEM), including the intensity contour, dispersion and loss, and together with the mode effective area and nonlinear coefficient, they are presented in this paper. By simulating we found that properties of HC-PBGFs with different core rings, such as dodecagon, rounded dodecagon and circle, have large difference. Fibers with circle core ring has the smallest dispersion slope and the least leakage loss, and fibers with rounded dodecagon core ring has the largest mode effective area and the least nonlinear coefficient, while fibers with dodecagon core ring show larger dispersion, larger dispersion slope and higher leakage loss.
