An edge type LED BLU for 32" TV has developed. Three kinds of structures have designed, which are two horizontal side type, two vertical side type and one vertical side type. From the test, LCM brightness can reach 380~400nit, power consumption is 37 W~53 W. The BLU uses two kind of back cover for thermal dispersion. The temperature is about 45 ~ 53 °C. Different optical sheet were evaluated in this paper from gain, view angle, etc. Two kinds of LED package were used for different structures, which are 5630 and 6030 LED. At last, we analyzed the feasibility of design rule on larger size TV BLU, showing the focus of design concept of LED and LGP in the future; figure out that LED BLU is the trend of LCD backlight.
