The relationship between Contrast Ratio and haze of polarizer sur- face

Polarizer is one of key components in TFT-LCD Industry, and Anti-glare (AG) is the most common surface treatment of polarizer. AG treatment could provide a better viewing expe-rience, but it deteriorates the LCD contrast ratio for its scattering properties. In this paper, the relationship between polarizer surface haze (the parameters characterize anti-glare level) and CR was investigated. Through the optical measure-ment results of real panel, a fitting equation was proposed, which could become an important reference for cell designer.
