Thermal bridge (cold bridge) assessment is becomingrnmore important for two reasons: firstly, as legislationrnand energy awareness lead to increased insulationrnlevels, so losses due to cold bridging form anrnincreasing fraction of building heat losses; andrnsecondly, condensation and mould growth arernincreasingly a focus for environmental health concern.rnThis paper describes two recent developments aimed atrnimproving thermal bridge assessment. The first is thernEUROKOBRA thermal bridge atlas, which wasrndeveloped with the aim of giving designers an easy tornuse, flexible, assessment, tool. The second is anrnextension of the detailed dynamic simulation programrnESP-r to 3-D conduction capability, allowing thernpossibility of thermal bridge assessment within arncomplete building model.
