NEW TECHNIQUES FOR VALIDATING BUILDING ENERGY SIMULATION PROGRAMS

An Anglo-French collaborative project is presentlyrnunder way with the dual purpose : a) to collect highrnquality data sets for the empirical validation of thermalrnsimulation programs of buildings and b) to develop andrntest advanced data analysis techniques. The aim is tornidentify and remedy the causes of poor predictivern-performance in thermal programs of buildings. Tworndata analyses are presented in this paper: one is arntime-domain technique developed by the EnergyrnMonitoring Company in UK, and the other is arnfrequency-domain technique developed by thernUniversity Paris 12, France. Both techniques have beenrnapplied to empirical validation results from fourrnstate-of-the-art thermal programs, and the derived errorrndiagnoses are discussed.
