摘要

The primary purpose of this paper is to discuss thernneeds and expectations concerning simulation, analysisrnand evaluation tools from the viewpoint of the designrnprocess. The main questions arising from thisrnviewpoint are those considering the nature of energyrnuse in the building sector as a factor of decisionrnmaking, building design and some of its characteristicsrnas an information process, and the value added to arnparticular design by the utilisation of simulation tools.rnArising from the discussion, it is suggested that for therntime being a more appropriate approach for reachingrnthe average desing professional is based on therndevelopment of simplified, low cost analysis andrnevaluation tools. The approach is discussed andrndescribed by presenting the concept, developmentrnprocess and implementation , of ETANA, a highlyrnsimplified building energy analysis tool, the firstrnversion of which is currently being distributed.
