A key component in keeping the track infrastructure maintained, is securing track occupancy. That is Included in the overall cost of any project owrk or ordinary maintenance. Often. lower priority track maintenance projects are canceled, as a result of cost over run of a previous project. In addition to the unpredictable or lack of track occupancy, lack of communication and delay's in material distribution can take the largest bite out of any budget. This paper reports the level of commitment, canadian Pacific Railways' Engineering Department, has dedicated to the daily support of engineering field operations. A team of line road masters with substantial track porogram and track maintenance experimence has been assembled in Canadian Pacific Railways' Network Management Center. This paper highlights a number of the successful procedures that have been implemented to communicate daily engineering requriements to the Operations/transportation department.
