Until recently only wet electrochemical technology has been used to measure trace oxygen forrnnitrogen purity monitoring. This application needs very fast response sensors in order to protectrnthe production lines from accidental oxygen ingress and a relatively accurate measurement of thernlevel of the oxygen impurity present in the gas. The use of a solid electrolyte zirconia oxygenrnsensor with a new type of electrode is demonstrated to be able to satisfy these two requirements.
