PREDICTION OF WATER RETENTION CURVES OF SOILS FROM THEIR GRAIN-SIZE DISTRIBUTION CURVE

摘要

In the present study, how one can draw soil water retention curve (SWRC) of a soil using its grain-sizerndistribution curve (GSDC) is shown. The relationship between the SWRC and GSDC is explained forrna soil taken from a foundation cut. For the soil, SWRC was plotted by one of the experimentalrnmethods, which is called as filter paper method. Also, the GSDC was determined experimentally.rnFinally, a new SWRC was calculated and plotted using the GSDC. At the end, it has been shown thatrnArya-Paris Model could be employed to estimate the SWRC from the GSDC.
