WATER SATURATION IN TRANSITION ZONE IGNORE SCAL DATA USING CUDDY’S METHOD

Water saturation is an important parameter inrnhydrocarbons in a place calculation. Thernequilibrium nature of water saturation in reservoirrnwill needs accurate determination of the free waterrnlevel (FWL), transition height, and irreducible waterrnsaturation. The transition zone is influentialrnreservoir volume modeling over a big area.rnSometimes, SCAL capillary pressure data show thernwater saturation to be inaccurate because the plugsrnwere not de-saturated to irreducible water saturationrnand capillary pressure equilibrium may not havernbeen reached. This study focused on a basin withrninterbedded shale and a sand clastic sedimentaryrnresevoir. Water saturation was calculated as beingrnabove the FWL using Cuddy’s method to ignore thernvalue of the capillary pressure on the SCAL data.rnThis paper describes the evaluation of waterrnsaturation in the transition zone of the hydrocarbonrnreservoir using the so-called Cuddy’s saturationrnheight method. This method was performed byrnignoring the capillary preassure values on the SCALrndata. Cuddy’s saturation height method wasrncomputed the parameter used in the evaluation arernusing porosity, the height of transition zone abovernFWL (h), and constant values of (a and b). Porosityrnwas taken from petrophysical data obtained fromrndensity and neutron logs and then the height abovernFWL in the transition zone was calculated. Thernresults were obtained in the form of Cuddy’s waterrnsaturation in the transition zone by showing thernpresence of the reservoir sands capillary pressure inrnthe transition zone. Cuddy’s water saturation wasrncompared with water saturations from log datarnusing SCAL values. Water saturation from Cuddy’srnequation was calculated as having as good qualityrnas the water saturation from log from the SCALrndata. We can use Cuddy’s method if we do not havernSCAL data to compute water saturation in therntransition zone.
