The most important transition in the analysis of polymers is the crystalline to liquidrntransition, more commonly known as the melting transition. The melting transition has beenrncorrelated to many physical properties of the polymer such as: molecular weight, additiverncomposition, copolymer composition and processing conditions. There have been many DSCrntools developed for the analysis of polymers such as low temperature DSC, high pressure DSC,rnUV-DSC and, more recently, dynamic DSC techniques. All these techniques expand the utilityrnof the DSC for the analysis of polymers. This paper shows the effect of different IsoStep? DSCrnexperiments on the melting transitions of a mix of low density and high density polyethylene.
