On Establishing Senior Sports Specialty in Higher Physical Education Universities

As the population of senior citizens has been increasing, their health has also become a more and more important social issue which causes great concern. Sports activities play an important role in the preservation of health, thus the establishment of senior sports specialty in the higher physical education universities which aims to cultivate professional talents who can provide professional service for the elderly people turns out to be both necessary and beneficial. Based on the demands of the aging society and the present situation in the higher physical education universities, this article puts forth some tentative ideas on the prospect of establishing senior sports specialty in the higher physical education universities, its cultivation objectives, profiles and curriculum with the hope that the suggestions can contribute to the future research.
