This paper begins with the essence how fore-rake happens, and followed by the analysis of the influence of different ratios of normal and tangential digging resistance (marked as X for short) on fore-rake stability of complete appliance, and we get curves describing how the fore-rake stability changes along with X. At the same time, we get a series of λ-K curves with different digging depth or bucket capability, through which we can study the influence of digging depth and bucket capability on λ-K. curves. Furthermore, we have studied the relationship between digging depth and the critical X when fore-rake instability phenomenon happens. The work in this paper has theory and application significance on the analysis of stability of excavator.
