In this study, A1<'3+> doped TiO<,2> nanosol was prepared by sol-gel method to improve the photo- stability of aramid fibres. In the process of preparing Al<'3+> doped TiO<,2> coating on aramid fibres, two preparation parameters including A1<'3+> content and annealing temperature were investigated. The coated aramid fibres were accelerated aging with UV lamp for different time. The mechanical properties of uncoated and coated aramid fibres were tested to reflect the photo-stability of A1<'3+> doped TiO<,2> coating. The results showed that the dope of Al<'3+> in TiO<'2> coating can lower the photocatalytic activities of TiO<,2> and improve the resistance to UV-radiation of aramid fibres effectively. The micro fractures of uncoated and coated aramid fibres were investigated by SEM.
