The method of Manufactured Part Model (MPM) has been developed as a joint effort of the University of Maryland and Alcoa Technical Center. It is proposed as a technique to analyze dimensional data and to estimate shape parameters of manufactured spaceframe extrusions. In the past year, the focus of the project is on analysis of geometric variation of rotary-draw bent extrusions used as spaceframe components of Audi A8 model. This research summery describes the research activities funded jointly by Alcoa Technical Center and NSF under grants DMI-9500006 and DMI-9510458.
