Real-Time Measurement of 3D Shape of Weld Pool Surface

Weld pool surface can. provide important information for understanding arc welding processes. A novel vision system is developed to measure the 3D shape of the free weld pool surface in this project. The specular reflection of pulsed laser stripes is captured by a high shutter speed camera. Algorithms have been developed to process the captured image and calculate the 3D surface of the weld pool from the processed image.
