In mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). the mobility of nodes results in dynamic change of network topology which incurs frequent communication interruptions, larger delay and lower performance. To alleviate this problem and improve the scalability, introducing a hierarchical structure has proven to be very effective [1], Clustering algorithms proposed in the literature can be classified as identifier-based, connectivity-based, weight-combination, and energy-aware [2].
