Rehabilitation of the Ukrainian 200 MweAnthracite firedStarobeshevo power plant with a CFBboiler

The Starobeshevo Power Plant, approx. 30 km south of Donetsk, is operated by JSCrnDonbassenergo, a major utility in the Ukraine. The Power Plant is mainly burning localrnanthracite.rnAs the existing facilities are reaching their age a strategy has been developed to apply state-of-rnthe-art technology for revamping. Therefore Donbassenergo was searching for anrnenvironmental sound combustion technology, capable to burn local anthracite as well as arnwide variety of dried anthracite sludge left from coal washing with an ash content of up torn60 %.rnNowadays a new Lurgi CFB boiler replaces the old block No. 4 of the Starobeshevo PowerrnPlant.rnThe unit is designed for 670 t/h of superheated and 538 t/h of reheated steam with 545 /rn543 ℃ and 13.2 / 2.5 Mpa temperature and pressure to account for the existing steam turbinernwhich generates up to 210 MW electricity.Emissions are designed in accordance with European regulations allowing 200 mg/m3 (STP)rnfor Nox and 200 mg/m3 (STP) for SO2.rnA basic description of the overall plant will be given. Details on the design of the CFB boilerrnwhich is equipped with Lurgi’s patented pant-leg and other design issues will be explained.
