PRiME Current Transducers - A novel approach for AC current Measurement

AC current measurements are generally made with classical current-transformers, built with magnetic steels and wound coils. In some specific applications, limitations are introduced by the use of a magnetic circuit and specific air-cored transformer designs improve the overall performances. In this paper, existing air-cored technologies are first briefly presented. The remainder of the paper focuses on a novel air-cored transformer design, based on special arrangements of only "printed circuit board" coils, different from every previous design using similar concepts.
