New IGBT Driver IC including advanced control and protection functions for 1200V, 3-phase inverter applications

A new integrated circuit that includes all the functions necessary to drive an IGBT in power applications is presented. Two innovative features are used to create a high performance and cost-effective system. The first one is the inclusion of an Active Miller Clamp function that, in many cases, avoids negative gate drive and allows the use of simpler power supply systems. The second innovative feature is a Two-Level Turn-off function that automatically protects the IGBT against large overvoltage at turn-off in case of overcurrent or short-circuit events.
