The electrical power chain of a speed-variable high-power pump has to meet special requirements [1]rnconcerning grid coupling and drive concept: On the grid side, in many applications very low short-circuitrnpower is available and, on the drive side, the bearable torque ripple is very low. Due to the long cablernconnections, the use of very line friendly line-side converter topologies and control concepts is a must.rnThe minimization of the torque ripple is the main requirement of the speed-variable drive in order tornguarantee safety and to keep the physical stress low. Further requirements are relevant in context ofrnredundancy. In this paper, a electrical power-chain topology for a speed-variable high-power pump isrnsuggested which fulfils the introduced requirements. Furthermore, control concepts for both, line-sidernand drive-side converters, are presented. A 200 kW laboratory set-up is presented.
