Security Considerations in the Distributed Parallel Computation Environment

The software tools that supports parallel computing environment generates a lot of communications between computers. If not protected, the interfaces of these tools accept all incoming connections. This gives opportunity to a malicious user to send anything to the parallel application and to study its responds. If a malicious user is able to intercept previous communications between the tools and application programs, this user can deduce the communication protocol and control the application software. Furthermore, these incoming connections, even non-malicious, may create security hazard. This paper analyzes the sources of the security hazards and proposes a practical solution to solve the security problem.
