Airborne 3D high resolution EM survey data were collected by eField in the northern Norwegian Sea. Survey areas included a producing field, a dry structure and other deep water areas. We confirmed with newly developed frequency-based algorithms that:rn1) The 3D passive airborne system recognized areas with and without large hydrocarbon deposits,rn2) Relative depth information was obtained from a parallel interpretation with geophysical data,rn3) Multiple hydrocarbon bearing strata were identified,rn4) Consistent survey results were found in 1200 meters of water.rnData interpretations supporting these claims are included.rnWe used the results for basin evaluations in support of a license application because the survey method allows us to optimize existing data (such as geological and seismic data) interpretations with independent EM data interpretations. Such combined interpretations can reduce the exploration risk.
