This paper describes the application of the modelbase, newly developed software architecture for adaptive forward-looking processes, for organizational strategic management and complex project design and decision-making under conditions of uncertainty and change in the offshore oil and gas industry. The modelbase is designed to maintain a live model of the organization against which new opportunities and alternative designs can be tested and adapted as new information is obtained.rnThe technology described has potentially wide application across the industry but particularly in the following areas:rn1. Enterprise Strategic Decision-Makingrn2. Adaptive Development Strategic Design and Managementrn3. Enterprise Knowledge-Sharing and re-usernThe paper show that the application of the techniques embedded in the modelbase, enable the organization to obtain a collective understanding of the future challenges and uncertainties facing the business, and this leads to both better and more adaptive decision-making which in turn increases the "strategic productivity" of the organization and significantly adds to the organizational wide value created by new developments, exploration and research.rnThe methods described in the paper have significance to the industry in the following areas:rn1. New methods for managing models, collaborative model building and knowledge sharingrn2. Methods for adaptive organizational, development and infrastructure designrn3. Active learning and dynamic optimization of the E&P process from exploration through to production
