Preferred Skin Colours of Africans, Caucasians, and Orientals

The human skin tones are important colours in the colourrnreproduction of digital photographic images. They are memoryrncolours for which people have distinct preference regardless ofrnhow they appear in real life. For preferred colour reproduction,rnthe skin tones should be reproduced according to subject’srnpreferences. The skin colour preferences of different ethnic skinrntones judged by observer groups with mixed ethnic backgroundsrnhave been studied in the past. However, they did not answer allrnquestions about skin colour preferences of individual-culturernbackgrounds and skin colour preferences of cross-culturernbackgrounds. This study is to investigate the skin colourrnpreference of individual-ethnic backgrounds and the skin colourrnpreference of cross-culture backgrounds. The result is to be usedrnfor optimising skin colour reproduction of colour imagingrnproducts for different geographical regions.
