The most important information about asphalt pavement is the thickness of the layers and the total thickness of the pavement.These quantities indicate whether the project specifications were met and can also direct future recovery plans.This study proposes the use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to verify the quality of asphalt pavements in an efficient and non-destructive way.A pavement model and digital GPR simulations were conducted and a survey was conducted on a paved road at the campus of Universidade Federal do Pará,Brazil.In this region,the problem lies in the presence of a slightly conductive substratum.The pavement thicknesses obtained by the GPR,borehole,and project plans showed significant discrepancies.
