Novel 2-dimethylsilyl(trimethylsilylpropyl)bicyclo[2.2.1]hepta-2,5-diene and endo-exo-5,6-bis(trimethylsilyl)bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-2-ene have been polymerized according to the ROMP scheme in the presence of RuCl_3·3H_2O, RuCl_2(PPh_3)_3, and WCl_6/tetramethyldisilacyclobutane as catalysts. Highly molecular mass silyl-substituted poly(cyclopentylenevinylene)s and poly(cyclopentenylenevinylene)s have been prepared. Transport properties of novel cyclo-linear glassy polymers were studied. The additional double bond in the cyclopentyl ring doesn't improve gas transport parameters. On the other hand the introduction of the second Si(CH_3)_3 side group in the backbone chain results in strong increase in gas permeability.
