Population Growth in The Euro-Mediterranean Region

摘要

The main objectives of this chapter are the presentation of: vital events that characterize member countries of the Euro-Mediterranean region and to what extent they affect their rate of population growth and the required number of years for doubling in size. The chapter will try to determine the major factors accounting for the fertility differential between countries in the region and the contribution of each to its persistence; assess the negative effect of population growth on the socioeconomic and demographic development of the region; and project the population size for each country and region as a whole by the years 2025 and 2050.
