During the last decade, Hydrogen Systems N.V.( HSNV) developped and tested an advanced water electrolysis system based on a membrane that uses the direct input of fluctuating DC current coming from solar photovoltaic cells and/or windturbines. The membrane is based on an inorganic ion exchanger embedded in an organic binder and reinforced by woven tissue.(1). Due to the multilayer structure of the membrane, hydrogen gas purity is not influenced by rapidly changing current patterns which are applied directly to the electrolysis module. This technology has been trademarked IMET9(~R), which stands for Inorganic Membrane Electrolysis Technology. Recently, a Manufacturing & Sales agreement has been concluded with GL&V-Hydrogen Technologies Inc. ( GLV-HT ). GLV-HT adapted this technology to North American standards and is now producing and selling it within the Americas.
