CONCRETE BLOCK PAVEMENT: AN ENVIRONMENT - FRIENDLY PAVING TECHNOLOGY

This paper has discussed the general features of CBPs. India is lagging far behind several other countries abroad in the utilisation of concrete block paving technology. In the context of current economic and industrial liberalisation, there are very good prospects for the development of the needed infrastructure and expertise for diversified application of this emerging technique. Sufficient knowledge and extensive body of experience of the many applications of the block paving already exists to permit Indian engineers to use CBPs with confidence. It is to be expected therefore that the usage of block paving will continue to increase in India as this knowledge becomes more widely disseminated.
