Standards and the European dimension telecommunications

European telecommunication standards (ETS) are produced by ETSI,nthe European Telecommunication Standards Institute. ETSI has a widenrange of technical committees, active in radio and networks standards,nas well as terminals. Overlap with the work of the other Europeannstandards bodies, CEN and CENELEC, is avoided by co-ordinating worknactivities in a joint steering committee. Generally speaking, the worknof CEN and CENELEC corresponds, at world-wide level, to the work of ISOnand IEC, whilst the work of ETSI corresponds to that of CCITT.
