Video is the continuous flow of images i.e. frames. As communication of data (includes text, image, audio, video etc.) is increasing now a days over an unsecure medium that is internet its security can be breached. Security of multimedia data is an important aspect because it contains valuable information. Several methodologies have been proposed for the security of data transmission over internet which includes encryption, authentication and digital signatures. For videos many cryptographic techniques are proposed for encrypting the video such as Advance Encryption Standard (AES), RC4, Simplified Data Encryption Standard (SDES), Modified Advance Encryption Standard (MAES) etc. This research paper presents the survey of existing video encryption techniques and compares their performance based on time taken for encryption and decryption of a given video size.
