The Brazilian Air Force Flight Test and Research Institute is currently developing a simulator for handling and flying qualities techniques training at the Flight Test School (EFEV) and as an aid during the planning phase of actual test campaigns. To perform such tasks, it is necessary to embed realistic models into the device. For this purpose, this work presents the development and validation of the aerodynamic model of the military turboprop trainer/attacker EMB-319/A-29 Super Tucano for the simulator. System identification methods have been widely applied, making use of experimental data collected from flight tests conducted in two instrumented aircraft. A baseline stability and control derivative model for longitudinal and lateral-directional motion was initially developed, using the equation error method. Further enhancements will consist of unsteady high angle of attack and ground effect simulation. Selected criteria from FAR Part 60 will be the base for model validation.
