The Role of Quality Management in Case-Based Reasoner's Lifecycle

CBR systems increasingly applied in practice. There, the system's ability to provide users with the information they need depends on the quality of the system's knowledge base and its long-term assurance and improvement. Currently, in CBR research quality is rather an abstract term. Maintenance plays a major role. But in practice, there is a need for a broader and more detailed focus on quality aspects along the whole CBR system's life cycle. Hence, the paper introduces a more quality-oriented view at the system's life cycle. A framework is presented containing quality-related aspects that are relevant for establishing a CBR system's quality management (CBRQM).
