The Effect of Behavioral Science on Designing the Environment

The issue of the relation between the built environment and behavioral patterns becomes more significant especially after the Modern era. Nowadays, environmental designers are attracted to psychological recognition of human behaviors. This subject made a big change in environmental designers' studies that led to a big change in designing. As a result, many spaces with high affordance providing great potential for improving the efficiency of the users come to existence. This paper at first briefly reviews the origins of the philosophy of behavioral science. However, the theme of this paper centers around the effect of behavioral science on environmental design. Finally, it concludes that it is necessary to carefully study people, their needs and behaviors to create a lively space. The information presented in this paper is obtained for the most part from library research, internet research along side with some case studies.
