摘要

1. Pathogens in drinking water sources can cause disease outbreak in the population served, and drinking water distribution systems are vulnerable to accidental and deliberate contamination with pathogens. 2.Microorganisms attach themselves to surfaces of conduits in drinking water distribution systems forming biofilms on pipes. 3.Biofilms create a favorable environment for the potential retention and growth of pathogens as the pathogens have been shown to be less susceptible to disinfecting agents once inside biofilms. 1,2,5 4.These pathogens can survive by competing with the existing organisms in the biofilm for nutrients. 5.It is important to study pathogen survival potential in a biofilm as they can be
