In this paper we briefly report about different types of grating manufacturing technologies with different characteristic gratings features that may affect the system performance. The holography was described a little further and its flexibility was demonstated onto two examples. The recent results of the FLEX project show that the phase approach of EM and FM phase of using already flight-hardware-like grating lead into a performance enhancement. This performance enhancement was enabled due to measurement results of the elegant breadboard and the achievement of the application optical design improvement.
