The paper focuses on the phenomenon of technological solutionism and its unintended consequences. It describes mistakes often made by engineers and innovators seeking solutions to social and political problems. The aim of this article is to raise awareness of what may go wrong when the engineering perspective is being used to solve social issues without knowledge of social and behavioral mechanisms.
