Comparison of packings and mechanical seals in pulp and paper industry

Maintenance of the pulp and paper industry has developed significantly during last few years. The main reasons have been increased production capacity and international competition. Today efficient maintenance is considered an essential part of the productivity of the mill. This includes the advanced sealing methods of pulp and paper industry. Traditionally the most important method of sealing of pumps and other process machinery in pulp and paper industry has been soft packings. During the last twenty years the changes in process conditions as well the increased environmental requirements have forced to use more efficient sealing solutions particularly in pulp mills. Today the success of mechanical seals in pulp mills, is also being utilised in the paper and board industry
