Methylene blue was degraded in the photo-assisted internal electrolysis reaction with copper scrap-iron as the electrode. The results indicated that the dyes absorbed on the surface of the copper scrap-iron were degraded quickly through the photo-assisted internal electrolysis. With 0.6g copper scrap-iron, 1.0h of reaction time, 160r/min of stirring rate and 10cm illumination distance, 10mg/L methylene blue solution was treated when the pH was 4, the decolorization rate and the remove rate of CODCr of dyeing solution were over 90% and 65% respectively. The copper scrap-iron showed rather good treatment efficiency after 5 times used. Several related factors effects on the decolorization of the dyeing solution were studied in the paper.
