Actively participate in the West Development, accelerating the economic development of the west region

Today, I am very glad to represent Guo Shengkun, the Party Secretary and General Director of Aluminum Corporation of China to attend the meeting. In recent years under the background of slowly global economic growth in the world, China adheres to the policy of expanding domestic demand, implementing positive financial policy and sane monetary policy, implementing great development of the west regions policy, so that China economy keep a trend of lasting high growth, the economic growth rate is over 7% for years ,will be up to 8% in 2002. In the first three quarters of this year, under the tremendous influence of epidemic SARS, China economy still keep trend of lasting high growth, the economic growth rate is still up to 8.5%, among them in the third quarter is up to 9.1%.Under the promotion that China enlarge the investment power in the west region, the economy of the west region accelerate the increasing rate. In 2002, the GDP of the west region has increase to 20% of the national total. The economy increasing rate of 12 western provinces/ regions is over 8%, higher than the average level of China increasing rate. For the top 3 western provinces/ regions, the economic increasing rate is over 12. The high economic increasing rate of the west plays an important role in keeping the fast development of China economy.
